Scale Venture Partners has promoted Nancy Lynch to principal.

Lynch, a former orthopedic hand surgeon, will continue to focus on identifying investments in the health-care industry. She joined the firm as an associate in July 2006.

"During the last year, Nancy has made significant contributions to the team, identifying innovative companies in the areas of orthopedics, diabetes and obesity," said Lou Bock, managing director at the firm. "We and our portfolio companies benefit from her extensive medical experience, and this promotion recognizes that."

So far this year, Scale Venture Partners - formerly BA Venture Partners, previously the venture arm of Bank of America Corp. - has completed its first institutional fund-raising, announced funding for four companies and completed five exits including the initial public offerings of Orexigen Therapeutics Inc. and Glu Mobile Inc. An early health-care investment for the firm, IPC The Hospitalist Company Inc., registered an IPO earlier this month.
