JasperSoft Corp., a provider of open source business intelligence
software, has raised a $12 million Series D financing to expand
internationally, where its products are seeing the most interest.
The round was led by new investor Scale Venture Partners. New investor
SAP Ventures, along with returning backers DCM, Morgenthaler Ventures
and Partech International also contributed to the financing.
Proceeds from this round will be used to expand the company's international
presence to keep pace with the high percentage of international
downloads of its software, which account for about 75% of the total,
said Paul Doscher, the company's president and chief executive.
Doscher added that some of the funding will also be used to build
out the company's sales channels.
JasperSoft sells its software using a dual licensing strategy,
allowing customers to pay a service fee or to purchase a commercial
license, Doscher said. Among its international clients are Italian
software company Alicubi and Swedish network monitoring company
Prosilient Technologies AB.
This round of funding brings the total amount raised by the company
to $35.3 million, according to VentureWire records.
JasperSoft was founded in 2001 under the name Pansopic and launched
as a commercial open source company in 2005 when it raised an $8
million Series C round. It hopes to be profitable in the next two
years.
Rory O'Driscoll, a managing director at Scale Venture Partners,
will join the JasperSoft board as a result of the financing.
