Venture-backed e-commerce site tester Offermatica Corp. has been
acquired for $65 million by Omniture Inc.
Offermatica spun out of e-commerce systems integration company
Fort Point Partners in 2005 and raised a $5.1 million Series A from
Baker Capital as part of the transition. Meritech Capital Partners
and Accel Partners backed Fort Point and became Offermatica backers
as a result of the buyout.
"We think [Offermatica] is a terrific company and they were doing
a great job, but we are very pleased with the outcome," Baker Capital
Partner John Baker said.
Baker said there was no major capital infusion after the Series
A.
San Francisco-based Offermatica provides on-demand testing technology
to measure visitor response to real-time changes in online content,
allowing online marketers to quickly make changes that maximize
conversion.
Orem, Utah-based Omniture makes software that helps Internet-based
businesses analyze their customers' online behavior.
John Mellor, senior vice president of business development and
corporate strategy at Omniture, said the team at Offermatica will
stay in place.
"This company is doing great, so we're not going to mess with it,
just bring us together in an orderly way," Mellor said.
